The Rossbeigh Beach, wreck of the sailing schooner the 'Sunbeam'

The Wreck of the 'Sunbeam' Blown ashore in a 1903 storm, thankfully with no loss of life.

With the ever shifting sands, she is sometimes lost from view, these photos were taken on March 3rd 2011.

Schooner Sunbeam at Rossbeigh Beach Glenbeigh, Co. Kerry


Schooner Sunbeam. A Wooden Schooner Built in 1860 by Walters in Exmouth. She was owned by her Builder up to the late 1870s and was then bought by Richard Kearon of Arklow. In January 1903 when on a Voyage from Kinvara to Cork she was driven ashore in a storm and wrecked with no loss of life.
